Overview of Ministries/Communities
Music Ministry The St. James Music Ministry provides the catalyst for worship. The Word of God as found in the Bible is put to music to point people to the one true Living God, to support the preaching and confessing of His holy word.
Marriage Ministry The purpose of this ministry is to teach couples how to keep the love bank full as they mirror Christ’s relationship with the church.
Deacon Ministry The Deacon Ministry consists of faithful men of the congregation who have been selected by the Pastor of the church to serve the membership.
Health and Wellness Ministry This ministry seeks to empower individuals to move toward a Christ centered health and wellness of mind, body, and spirit. It also serves to help people help themselves through health education. This ministry also provides workshops, training and screenings on subjects of importance to the membership of the church and community. These include prostate screenings, CPR training and certification, and blood pressure clinics to name a few.
Health and Fitness Ministry This ministry offers a holistic approach to fitness that includes mind, body, and spirit. It also serves to help people help themselves through physical and spiritual exercise.
Nurses Guild serves to support the church by providing a ministry focused on the physical health and well-being of the members. They support the Usher staff on Sundays and are available should a medical need arise.
Wedding Ministry The Wedding Ministry plans, organizes and schedules all wedding related activities. It acts as liaison between the Pastor and couples intending to be married; and oversees the coordination of wedding ceremonies, rehearsals, and receptions held at St. James.
Sign Language Ministry A ministry composed of dedicated men and women who are used to reach those in our audience who are deaf and/or have hearing loss
Usher Ministry The Usher Ministry is important to all who regularly attend our church and to new guest and visitors who want to be fed the Word of God without interruption or confusion. This ministry will welcome, greet, assist, seat, serve and keep the facility safe and secure during worship services or events.
Prayer Ministry This ministry is more than a ministry at St. James. This ministry will help you to learn the incredible, awesome power available to you through prayer.
Ministry of Revelation This ministry is dedicated to supporting the gospel ministry through the power of technology.
Bookstore Ministry The Bookstore provides a variety of books and other materials, to aid the Body of Christ in studying to show themselves approved unto God, at a cost competitive with other religious bookstores.
Parking Ministry This dedicated group of workers orchestrates the flow of traffic during St. James services.
Child Evangelism This ministry strives to build founded principles in the lives of young children. The Bible is taught so clearly and they are guided to in building an intimate relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ.
Single Mother’s Ministry The Single Mother's Ministry provides the teaching, fellowship, and spiritual support needed by single mothers to raise a Godly family. This ministry supports women who are fighting the odds to raise God honoring children into productive, God-fearing, God-serving Christian workers.
School of the Prophets This ministry provides training for the ministers of the church under the direction of the pastor. Knowledge and understanding as well as worship skills and preaching is further developed. | Champion Volunteer Ministry Members of this ministry volunteer their time and talent working behind the scene to help our pastor make the visions and goals for the membership a reality.
Media Ministry If you have a desire to work on cameras, create slides on power point, work a sound board or control lights, this is the ministry for you.
Poetic Praise Ministry The members of this ministry are given the opportunity to pray on paper to our creator while sharing their God given gift of poetry with a Christian audience.
Men’s Ministry This ministry is open to all men of St. James. Its purpose is to build strong Christian men to work in Kingdom building.
Living Single Ministry This ministry seeks to reach out to single adults through Bible study, fellowships, outreach and counseling. This ministry seeks to ultimately empower singles to impact the world for Christ.
Helping Hand Ministry This ministry assists in serving those members in need of financial assistance through our benevolent fund. These requests are usually for housing (rent or mortgage), utilities, food and medicine.
Women’s Ministry This ministry is open to all women of St. James. The purpose is to build strong Godly women to work in Kingdom building.
Cancer Support Ministry This ministry seeks to bring Christ’s comfort, encouragement, and hope to people affected by cancer.
Junior Mission Junior Mission focuses on affirming each young woman in her relationship with Christ to enable her to be in ministry among the people in her community and then the world.
Entrepreneur Ministry This ministry is a spiritual support mechanism for those who have their own business or hope to start their own.
Crossroads Student Ministry This ministry is designed to be a support base for college students and to aid them in their pursuit of higher education.
Praise Dance Ministry This ministry ministers God's word through sign language and dance combined. We are to help others reach the lost through a different way of praise. It's a way for those who love to dance, to dance for God.
Greeters This ministry ensures members and visitors of the church are greeted each Sunday morning prior to worship. They are to provide visitors with a contact for assistance on Sunday mornings as well as generate a sense of warmth and cheer as people are ushered in to worship.
New Comers Ministry This ministry welcomes, instructs and cares for the new members; to help in discovering the truth in Scripture; and to assist the new member in the decision to serve the Lord as an active member of the SJBC family.
Nursery This ministry allows parents/guardians to participate in our church services by providing quality childcare within a safe, caring, and friendly environment.
Recreation Ministry This ministry focuses on those who participate upon the purpose of fellowship and evangelism while enabling those to seek physical and spiritual fitness .
Security Ministry This ministry serves the church by providing the congregation a safe and secure place to worship.
St. James Church School Church School is the place to teach the vital importance of Scripture to our children, teens, and adults and to disciple them in their Christian walk. Church School remains one of the church's most powerful ways to affirm the Word of God as the foundation for living the Christian life.
Prison Ministry The Prison Ministry is a vital life-aiding ministry for incarcerated people and their families. The ministry visits, worships with, and pray for inmates. They also are able to provide caring support and assistance with rehabilitation once an inmate is released.
Generations Ministry This ministry provides interactive training and fellowship for our youth as they grow in their personal walk with the Lord. This ministry encompasses various areas including the Bible Study, Church School, music ministry, dance, mission, and recreation.
F.A.I.T.H. Ministry This ministry takes the message of Jesus Christ into our local community. They canvass the neighborhoods around our church providing information on services the church offers, notices of special events, and most importantly praying with families and leading them to Christ.
Ministers’ Wives, Widowed and Engaged Ministry This ministry seeks to provide support, fellowship and training for the minister’s wife. Its goal is to help the wife of the minister find her own unique and God-given place by her husband’s side as the wife of a pastor or minister.
Recovery through Christ This ministry seeks to be a bridge to God’s grace and healing by providing understanding, acceptance, support, information, referral, and prevention to anyone seeking help from any addiction.
Christian Education This ministry involves the administration and coordination of curriculum and strategies to facilitate the spiritual growth and discipleship of believers into Christ-likeness.
Mission I and II Focuses on encouraging and equipping women to live out their Christian lives in active mission ministries at St. James and the surrounding communities. |
